{"id":2069,"date":"2021-12-02T21:17:35","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T02:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/writingtothesoul.com\/?p=2069"},"modified":"2024-08-18T16:57:02","modified_gmt":"2024-08-18T20:57:02","slug":"rising-to-the-surface","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/writingtothesoul.com\/index.php\/2021\/12\/02\/rising-to-the-surface\/","title":{"rendered":"The Depths of Silence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silence is often where our best ideas and most important thoughts emerge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you\u2019re going for a walk outside, underneath the moon and a glistening sky of stars, listening to nothing but the unfiltered noise of your surroundings, you can\u2019t help but feel a sense of intrinsic inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you\u2019re lying in bed, refusing to look at your phone or the TV, simply allowing yourself to stew in boredom, your mind is given the freedom to travel places it hasn\u2019t been to in a long time or perhaps ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How easily this is forgotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of us believe the answers we seek are found elsewhere. We read self-help books and watch shows to inspire and motivate us. We listen to podcasts and YouTube videos in the background as we work our 9-5 jobs. We cater our social media feeds to be filled with motivational content<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It <em>feels<\/em> like we\u2019re accomplishing something; it feels like we\u2019re growing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Oh, this tweet is the one!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>This book will jumpstart my life for sure!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet, we remain where we have always been, as we search for that <em>next <\/em>book or that <em>next <\/em>video or tweet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We become so enamored by this knowledge and information that, in doing so, we become stuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Frozen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unable to take action or move forward; unable to <em>act <\/em>on everything we have read and learned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is, until we finally close the books, we stop mindlessly scrolling, we stop listening to those podcasts and videos day in and day out.
